"I think the campaign is something that really needed to happen. The fact that we need a day like this only serves to highlight the fact that even in the 21st century with all the equality legislation in place we can't walk down the street etc holding hands with a same sex partner without fear of verbal or physical abuse - something straight people take for granted. Why should they be allowed to and us not? Why is it that their public displays of love, affection and belonging are seen as somehow better than ours? Steve and I are always careful where we hold hands." John
