A Day in Hand - Same Sex Hand Holding (SSHH!)

Wales and Iran Unite24 Jun 2009 5:08PMI call this photo 'Wales and Iran Unite', simply because it shows me (Welsh) and my beautiful friend (Iranian). It was taken in Portugal, though! Even though our faces are hidden, the grip (to me) seems to seep emotion and a passion of sorts! Keep up the good work, bringing same-sex hand-holding to the fore as a social norm!! Bravo :)
It was taken in June '09, but my friend who took it (Brazilian) only sent it to me a few weeks ago. I'd forgotten all about it. And even though you can't see others in the background, I thought it was good because it was in Portugal, and also having my Iranian friend feature in it was cool.
We actually did walk around our tiny little town hand-in-hand at times, wondering if we'd stir up any trouble, but people seemed strangely accepting. Just a few strange glances now and then! But they were truly refreshing people on the whole. Maybe I was lucky, but I quite like the illusion if that is the case!
