Great hand hold at the Great Wall29 Nov 2009 4:42PMAvinash and Vince holding hands on the Great Wall of China for the Same-Sex Hand Holding project.
Amazing picture of two amazing people. Wonder if you can see the hand hold from space? Vince had this to say,
"Anyways, this photo was taken on the 29th of November 2009 and this is
my fiancee Avinash. I am from London but live in Beijing at the moment
for a year of studies. Holding hands in China is not very common, even
for straight couples as public affection is traditionally a taboo. When
you see a young straight couple hug and kiss it's already a novice.
Boys holding hands is mostly seen as a sign of friendship like in the
Middle East. Most people in China are unaware of gay relationships and
wouldn't interpret us holding hands us us being together necessarily.
The younger generation is changing tho and gays are more and more
willing to come out. Since the Chinese, even if they might be
homophobic, are a mostly a non-violent, non-judgemental folk,
holding-hands is a safe-practice and a great way of pushing forward
visibility."

A Happy Memento25 Sep 2009 12:46PM"I'm Chiminh Wang, my English name is Catish, it's the guy on the right. The photo was taken on April 2009, please ignore the date below the photograph, it's just the system time after camera reset. That place in the picture is a garden of a factory, which I've ever been lived, I have worked there for several months. I knew the guy during my work time there. But the terrible pity is, this guy is not my boyfriend. He's never known the love I offer, but we seems to be good partners. We were so close to each other, and we do some same things as Chinese lovers do. Just like they do, we spent lots of time to be together with each other. The happy momentos I've never had before. Now he's gone, this photo and the time we have had were kept in my memory."
