Police Protection

This photo was taken at the 35th Annual San Diego LGBT Pride Parade on July 18, 2009 by Union-Tribune photographer David Brooks.
I know that you discourage photos from Pride parades*, but I thought this photo was quite remarkable for two reasons:
1. I've never seen a uniformed police officer holding hands in public before (with any sex);
2. Knowing that they were marching in front of upwards of 150,000
people, they were obviously making a statement larger than their
personal relationship. Even given the obvious comfort level afforded by
the context, I thought it was a very brave and moving act.
