APPLY NOW TO BE A LONDON 2012 ‘GAMES MAKER’
23 Sep 2010
In July 2009, A Day In Hand took part in the Great London Same-Sex Hand Holding Relay as part of the Open Weekend. Now we are proud to advertise more opportunities for getting involved in the Cultural Olympiad. Gareth Thomas, London 2012 Ambassador & Welsh International Rugby Player, says "The London 2012 Organising Committee will need exceptional volunteers to help stage the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games. They’ll make the Games happen – so we’re calling them ‘Games Makers’.We want to encourage people from the LGBT community to get involved; to join in and take part in a once in a lifetime opportunity to celebrate sport and to celebrate humanity through volunteering.
The LGBT community will play an essential part in making the Games a reality. We aim to make diversity and inclusion one of the things that make our Games stand out. To do this we want to attract a diverse team of passionate and dedicated individuals that reflects the best of London and the UK. We want London 2012 to be everyone’s Games and we are committed to ensuring that diversity & inclusion is a key part of the Games Maker programme. The welfare of our volunteers is very important to us and all Games Makers will be treated with dignity and respect.
