Be a part of London 2012 with A Day In Hand 28 Jun 2009 The Great London
Same-Sex Hand Holding (SSHH) Relay

A Day In Hand is looking for volunteers to become part of the first ever same-sex hand holding relay walk, as part of the 2012 London Games Open Weekend.
A Day In Hand is part of the London 2012 Open Weekend supported by BP– an open invitation to get involved in the three day national celebration marking the countdown to the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.

What?
To coincide with the 3 year run up to London 2012 Olympic Games, A Day In Hand will be part of the Open Weekend 24th-26th July 2009.
We will be putting on a same-sex hand holding relay walk. We aim to cross London from north-west to south east with one continuous same-sex hand hold. At each stage of the route, one couple will pass the hand hold to another couple.

When?
Sat 25th July, 10am

Where?
Start Queens Park NW6, London
Finish Greenwich Park SE10, London

Why?
We want to track the course of one same-sex hand hold, in public and narrate the journey of this simple act of affection. Who do we meet along the way? What are the reactions? Will the world fall in on us? Or will we be inspired by the positive reactions...or even lack of reaction....to see 2 men or 2 women holding hands.

We need:
Volunteers willing to hold hands with someone of the same gender for anywhere between 10m -1000m.
You can be straight, lesbian, gay, bi or trans. You can be single or in a relationship. There is likley to be media interest in the campaign esp. BBC Radio.
