London 2009 Pride pics
07 Jul 2009
On 4th July 2009, A Day In Hand marched with Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual and Trans (LGBT) teachers under the Schools Out and LGBT History Month banner.
Boy George shows support for our campaign. Thanks Dafydd...
The Metropolitan Police were excellent helpers of the parade and loved the idea in supporting equality.
Hand holders on Regent's Street. We took a break from the parade after turning the corner off Oxford St
into Regent's Street. There we set up our sign and came across dozens of same-sex hand holders.
...and as we set up stall in Trafalgar Square we encountered more hand holders, who loved the idea of the campaign.

This
was where I spotted something rather incredible. A floating Day In Hand
heart amid the crowds. It seem to ride the sea of people like a dawn
treader on the ocean surf. I jumped out of the stall to find.... it was
in fact our Facebook group supporter Ben 'Earnest' Polwin. Ben said he had been getting tons of responses to wearing our logo that day. People love the look, and Ben really is a good model. A Day In Hand is all about people making this campaign their own.

Of course the biggest scoop of the day is when we got some straight people on board to help us. I was talking to these friendly straight chaps later near Leicester Square and they absoutely wanted to show their support for equal rights. Maybe they would like to take the Elvis Walk A Mile In My Shoes challenge.
Back stage at the main stage in Trafalgar Square & friendly Turkish guys in Soho Sq.
And the hand holding continued, as I walked from Trafalgar Square up to Charing Cross
and then cutting up through Covent Garden, I saw plenty of
same-sex hand holding (sshh) action at Seven Dials.
