Same-sex hand holding (Sshh) Saturday
December 26th 2009

It was festive! Despite being stuffed and over the holiday period, many couples went outside on December 26th to live their love with festive wishes! Ho ho ho hold hands!

Our logo wonderfully updated for the festive season by Tami Twarog.

"We have been together for 4years and will be having our civil partnership this october. We have always held hands in public and do find that people stare. To look once may be shock to something different but to stare is rude. We feel that this campaign is a step in the right direction to disolve the ignorance and show the world that it is normal! And for some strange reason that day we took the photo we didnt get stared at!!
It was taken outside the Baltic Centre for Contemporary Arts on the River Tyne
Thanks."

"Hello,

I would love to be considered to have my pic (pics) added to this wonderful campaign.

It's a wonderful life. Facing Kukulkán's Pyramid, recently named one of the new World's Seven Wonders, located in Yucatán, México, my boy, Isaac, and I, Ray, hold our hands (and share a hug) - on a sunny sunday afternoon. December 27th, 2009.

Best regards and happy new year!"
Ray

"Please find attached our picture to support your fantastic campaign. When I took my wife to work, we both paused and held hands as crowds of people walked by us in the car and I snapped the photo.
We hope a lot of people get on board and support this campaign, which we feel really strongly about.
Best wishes!"

"In my city its a definite "no go" as it is for most of the south island of NZ. It's more accepted in the north island but still an area that couples need to exercise caution over doing even in Auckland our most liberal city"- Francis Deane, New Zealand

"It's my ex boyfriend and myself when we were together. It was taken on my bed with a normal phone camera. I think I took it about april/may time this year. It was part of a self portraits piece of work for college." - Emma, a straight woman who supports the campaign.
